Terms & refunds

These terms apply when you order a personalized Nurture Tales book from Dolan. Please read them before you pay; by placing an order you agree to them.

1. Who we are

2. What you're buying

A personalized digital storybook, delivered as a PDF, written for your child from the answers you give us. It is designed to help a child through a change in their life, with big feelings, or with everyday situations with other people. It is an educational storybook: it is not medical advice, diagnosis or therapy, and it does not replace professional help.

3. How your book is made, including our use of AI

We use AI tools (Google's Gemini models) to draft the story and to create the illustrations, based on your answers and any photos you add. Katharina then edits, adjusts and reviews every page, and nothing is sent to you until she is happy with it. The pictures are AI-generated illustrations, not photographs, even when they are based on your photos. The finished book says so on its last page.

4. Ordering and payment

The price is 449 kr, shown before you pay. Payment is taken by our payment provider, Stripe; we never see your card details. Your order is confirmed once payment has gone through, and we'll send a confirmation to your email.

5. Delivery

We email your book as a PDF, normally within 5 days of payment. If something in your answers needs clarifying, or it will take longer, we'll email you.

6. Cancellation, right of withdrawal and refunds

Each book is made to order for your child, so at checkout you ask us to start work straight away. Work starts when Katharina begins writing your book, normally within one working day of payment.

• Until work starts: you can cancel for a full refund. Email books@psychologistdolan.com with your order reference.
• Once work has started: because you asked for work to begin at once and acknowledged that your right of withdrawal then lapses, the right of withdrawal under the Norwegian Cancellation Act (angrerettloven § 22) no longer applies, and a finished book can't be returned for a refund.
• Changes you'd like: tell us within 14 days of receiving the book and we'll make one round of small changes free of charge, such as a word, the spelling of a name or a detail in a picture. After 14 days the book's illustrations are deleted, as the privacy policy promises, so we can no longer change the pictures.
• If we made a mistake: if the book doesn't match what you told us in your order (for example a name spelled differently from your answers, or something you asked for left out), or the file doesn't work, tell us within a reasonable time of noticing and show us what's wrong. We'll correct it free of charge. If that's no longer possible, you get a fair price reduction, or a full refund if the mistake makes the book unusable. Differences of taste, or changes to what you told us, aren't mistakes: the 14-day round of changes is for those. This doesn't limit your rights under Norwegian consumer law.

Refunds go back to the payment method you used, within 14 days of us agreeing to them. If you live outside Norway, you also keep any consumer rights the law of your country gives you.

7. Your answers and photos

By ordering you confirm that you are the legal guardian of the child the book is about, and that you have permission from everyone else in any photo you add (or their guardian). We use your answers and photos only to make your book, and delete the photos when the book is delivered. The privacy policy explains exactly what we keep and for how long.

8. Using your book

The book is for your family's personal use: read it, share it with the people who care for your child, and print copies for yourselves. Please don't sell or publish it. We will never use your book, your answers or your photos for marketing unless you separately say we may.

9. Complaints

If something isn't right, email books@psychologistdolan.com within a reasonable time of receiving the book and we'll do our best to fix it. If we can't agree, you can contact the consumer authority in your country (in Norway, Forbrukerrådet).

10. Liability

We take care over every book, but it is a storybook and not professional advice; if you're worried about your child, please talk to a qualified professional. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have as a consumer that can't be limited by law.

11. Governing law and changes

Norwegian law applies, without taking away any mandatory consumer protection of the country you live in. We may update these terms; the version shown when you placed your order is the one that applies to it.

12. Books for hard times

Our “For hard times” books (199 kreach) are general books, the same for every family, not personalised. We email the PDF as soon as your payment is confirmed. Because it is delivered straight away, you are asked at checkout to agree that the right of withdrawal (angrerettloven § 22) no longer applies once the book has been delivered. If the email doesn't arrive or the file doesn't open, contact books@psychologistdolan.com and we'll send it again. The personal-use terms in section 8 apply to these books too.
